Bagan

14,000 Buddhist temples, stupas, and monasteries used to rise above the ancient city of Bagan some 1000 years ago.

Now only 2229 remain due to earthquakes and inadequate preservation, but it is still an unbelievable place.

  1. incredible! I often see this area with lots of hot air balloons pictured in the sky – did you see any?

They don’t have balloons in the off season there, but no matter – you can climb to the top of some of the temples for a view – for free!

  2. Your photos are beautiful. Absolutely stunning.
